Children's Privacy

Written for the parent or guardian of a student under 13, and for the teacher who is about to forward this to them. It explains what we collect from a child, what we refuse to collect, and exactly what you can ask us to do about it.

Effective 4 August 2026

Nothing happens without you first

A child cannot sign themselves up for Vittoria Music Studio. There is no public registration for a student account. The sequence is always the same:

  • The teacher adds the student to their studio and enters a date of birth.
  • If that date of birth indicates a minor, the system requires a guardian. The teacher sends an invitation to the guardian's email address.
  • You create your own account, and you are shown what will be collected and what it is used for.
  • You give — or withhold — consent. The student's account does not become usable until you give it.
  • You separately choose whether to allow video and audio recording. Saying no to that does not affect anything else.

You are consenting on your child’s behalf, and you can change your mind later. Withdrawing consent closes the account and deletes the data.

What we collect from a child

  • Their first name, and last name or initial, so their teacher can tell them apart from another student.
  • Their date of birth. This exists to determine that they are a minor and to route consent to you. It is not used for anything else.
  • The work they do in the app: when they practiced and for how long, which piece, theory answers, pieces their teacher has marked mastered, streaks and personal records.
  • Messages between them and their teacher, and between you and their teacher.
  • If — and only if — you have separately consented: video and audio they or their teacher record.

A child is never asked for an email address, a phone number, an address, a photograph of themselves, or anything about their family. If your child types something into a free-text field, it goes to their teacher and nowhere else.

What we refuse to collect

These are constraints built into the software, not policies we maintain by being careful.

  • No location of any kind.
  • No contacts, no photo library access, no device identifiers used for advertising.
  • No third-party advertising or analytics code anywhere a student can reach. Not Google Analytics, not an ad network, not an attribution SDK.
  • No behavioral advertising, ever, and no sale or sharing of a child's information with anyone.
  • No public profile, no follower list, no discovery of one student by another.
  • No open messaging between students. A student can message their teacher. That is the only direction available to them.

Video and audio

Recording a child is treated as its own decision, because it is one. Consent to use the app is not consent to be recorded, and the app will not let a teacher record a student whose guardian has not agreed separately.

  • Recordings are visible only to your child, you, and their teacher.
  • They are encrypted where they are stored, and any link to them is signed and expires.
  • Nothing is ever posted publicly or used in marketing. If we ever wanted to use a recording for anything outside your child's own lessons, we would come and ask you, specifically, and a no would be the end of it.
  • Withdrawing video consent deletes the recordings. It does not merely stop new ones.

What you can ask us to do

As the parent or guardian, you have all of the following, at no cost, without giving a reason:

  • See it. Ask for everything we hold about your child and we will show you.
  • Take a copy. A full export, in a format you can actually open.
  • Correct it. Anything wrong gets fixed.
  • Stop the collection. Withdraw consent and we stop collecting anything further from your child.
  • Delete it. We delete the records and the media. Deleting means deleting, not deactivating.

Write to hello@vittoriamusicstudio.com. We will check the request really comes from the guardian on the account — which protects your child — and then act on it, normally well inside 30 days.

One honest note: if you ask us to delete your child’s account, their practice history and their collection of mastered pieces go with it, and we cannot bring them back. Ask for the export first if you want to keep it.

What your child's teacher can see

Their teacher sees their practice, their assignments, their theory results, their repertoire, and the messages between them. That is the point of the product — a teacher who can see whether a student practiced can help them.

Your teacher is running their own studio and is responsible for how they use what they see. We provide the software; the teaching relationship is between you and them.

If we get something wrong

If we ever learn we have collected information from a child without proper guardian consent, we delete it. If you believe that has happened, tell us at hello@vittoriamusicstudio.com and we will deal with it rather than argue about it.
